An athlete's mien

by Kristin Svanæs

on 21 March 2011

A conceptual portrait series of different athletes showing how their individual training and diet affect and shape their physical appearance. Prime focus is on the anatomical similarities and differences, but also on each athlete's diet and personal perception of sacrifice and dedication in order to achieve and maintain a certain physical shape. The series is structured by three photos of each athlete: one with their training suit on showing in what sport genre they perform, one naked in order to analyze their anatomy, and thirdly a detail image of something symbolic either to the athlete or to their individual sport. Each athlete was also interviewed on how much they work out during a typical week and what their daily diet consist of.
